Really good Location and Service
convenient locationamazing viewreadily available transport
The hotel has direct access to One Galle Face shopping centre (very convenient for quick shopping trips). I also found tuk-tuks and hotel cars readily available for visits to other areas. My room had views of the lake and Lotus Tower. (The sunset views from the pool were very nice!).
I had to queue at the normal reception, then I was told to go to the 30th floor for check-in, which took an extra 15 minutes.

The hotel is strategically located near the fort area. It has easy access to the shopping mall with a food court, perfect for quick meals and shopping. The hotel entrance is directly connected to the mall.

The breakfast buffet offers a mix of Western and Eastern foods. Live music is available each night in one of the bars. I found the live cooking station to be a great addition to the breakfast room.

The breakfast room IS large and has many food options. a live cooking station operates there. i also enjoyed dinner. The food was good. Tuk Tuks and hotel cars can visit sights.
i was greeted with a sniffer dog and a car search. i waited in line at normal reception. i was then told to go upstairs to the 30th floor because i had a suite. it would be more comfortable to check in there, they said.

check-in took an unreasonably long time the selection of drinks at the pool bar was very limited i expected better housekeeping services specifically a turndown service in the evening but no one came to check if we needed anything this surprised me. dining also disappointed i had dinner at shang palace they brought everything in large communal dishes scooping food onto our plates the presentation was unappealing

My room smelled strongly of smoke, a real bummer. The gym closes at 9 PM which is earlier than I like. Who wants to work out before dinner anyway?
